Sharpey's fibers in cementum

Webb5 jan. 2015 · Sharpey’s fibers are a part of the collagen fibers from the periodontal ligament that are each partially inserted into the outer part of the cementum at 90 degrees, or at a right angle, to the cemental surface (as well as the alveolar bone on their other end) as they are inserted on the other end, the alveolar bone. WebbSharpey's Fibers of Cementum Collagen fibers produced by cementoblasts are intrinsic fibers of cementum and are confined to that layer. Collagen fibers formed by fibroblasts of the PDL ( E) forming the principal fiber bundles, are partly incorporated into the cementum ( A ). They are referred to as extrinsic or Sharpey's fibers ( F ).
