WebMay 14, 2010 · The updated OEM thermostat molds the gasket onto the thermostat, both top and bottom, where it should be, so both surfaces are sealed. IMO it doesn't make sense to buy a nice billet thermostat housing, only to use RTV (I hate that stuff) to stop the leaks.
